SOFTA SALINOS Peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital, Softa Salinos passed away in her 81st year. Softa was born in Sirko, Man. on February 19, 1919 and resided for many years with her adoptive parents at Sundown, Man. Softa leaves to mourn her passing her brother Mike Tychon of Westlock, Alta., numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Kate and John; adoptive parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mykola Dubniak; her husband Albert (November, 1972) brothers, Nick, George, Bill; sister Mary; step-sister Doris and step-brothers, Nick and Peter Franchuk. After her marriage to Albert Salinos, she lived on their farm, south of Tolstoi, where she took pride and joy in her vegetable garden, flower beds and all other farm chores. Later, after she was widowed, she moved to Winnipeg for a number of years was employed, as an assistant at a tailor shop. Softa was a faithful member of the Orthodox Church whether in Tolstoi or in Winnipeg and attended church services on a regular basis. From the Holy Family Nursing Home she often commented how happy she was just to be able to "see" the Holy Trinity Cathedral on Main Street, because in the latter stages of her life, being a "double amputee", she was unable to attend. The next-of-kin express sincere thanks to the staff of the Holy Family Nursing Home for the care, compassion and the many kindnesses extended to Softa during her residency there. Funeral services will be held at the Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Tolstoi, Man. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2000 with Rev. Fr. Miron Pozniak officiating. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richard Drewniak, Tony Drewniak, Paul Makoweski, Edward Politzer, Mike Zahara and Michael Yarmie.
