JOYCE KEITH NICHOLLS (nee LOGAN) Joyce Keith Nicholls passed away peacefully with her daughter Melanie by her side, on Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at Misericordia Place, Winnipeg. Born May 18, 1922 in Vermillion, AB, she lived all her life, except the last year in Edmonton, AB. She was predeceased by her parents, Rene (Hutchings) Logan and Harold Logan; by one brother Ray, who died as a Navigator in the Second World War and by her loving husband, Eric Nicholls. She is survived by her two daughters, Melanie Logan Lautt (Winnipeg) and Kathleen Elizabeth Orr (Calgary) son-in-law Wayne Lautt (Winnipeg) and her brother John Logan (Thelma) of Vancouver. She will be lovingly remembered by her three grandchildren, Kelly Lautt (Los Angeles), Mick Lautt (Winnipeg) and Christopher Orr (Calgary) and by her three nephews, Mark Logan (Kamloops), Gerald Logan and Kurt Logan (Vancouver). Besides her commitment to family, Joyce Nicholls was a dedicated volunteer. She gave years of time to the West Jasper Place Home and School Association, the Oldtimers Association of Alberta and The Edmonton Heritage Foundation. She devoted 40 years of her life to the Girl Guides of Canada, serving in numerous positions and assisting many young girls to become strong and confident young women. Her last year was spent in good humour, adapting to a whole new city. The family wishes to express its thanks to the staff of Misericordia Health Centre and special gratitude to the staff of Rosewalk in Misericordia Place for their devotion and care. Memorial service will be private. If desired, donations may be made in her memory to the Girl Guides of Canada.
