BERT B. JANIK On October 18, 2000, Bert Janik passed away peacefully at St Boniface Hospital at the age of 78, beloved husband of Adeline and daughter Gloria. Predeceased by his father William and mother Frances; brother Joe; sisters, Mary and Adeline. Left to mourn are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. Bert was in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1941-1945. After the Navy service, Bert owned and operated Wesley Grill on Portage Avenue. He then retired from his restaurant business and joined friends at Paramount Windows with much enjoyment. Illness then had him again retire. A big part of Berts life was at the family cottage at Sunnyside in Keewatin, Ontario, where family and friends gathered for many good times. Special thanks to Concordia and St. Boniface Hospital Staffs Department of Veterans Affairs, the staff and wonderful care workers at home care service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R2B 2H8. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 22, at 4:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street at Luxton Avenue with Deacon Brian Carter officiating. Private family interment will take place on Monday. Cropo Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 586-8044.
