She worked as a domestic until she married Jonas on May 23, 1936. She was an active member of the community but her greatest pride was her family. She was often found knitting socks and baby blankets. She loved to putter in her flower garden. Maria and Jonas fondly remember the many trips to Iceland they made. She had an amazing memory for local history and peoples birthdays. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23 in the Geysir Community Hall, Sylvia Sigurdson will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Gudrun Gislason, Bogi Bjarnason, Lauga Einarson, Palmi Palsson, Palmi and Christine Sigvaldason. The family would like to thank the Arborg Personal Care Home staff and home care workers for the wonderful care given to Maria the past three years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arborg and District Health Centre or a charity of ones choice. Do not weep for me at my grave for I am not there I am in the wind, I am in the Sky Do not weep for me at my grave for I am and will always be with you.
