KRIS HOWARD It is with the deepest sorrow and sadness that we announce the tragic passing of our son, brother, grandson, nephew and dear friend in October 2000 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Kris is greatly missed by his parents, Les and Barb; his sister Shannon; his grandparents, Bill and Genny Howard and Joan Thibert; his aunts and uncles, Mary Jane and Terry, Bob and Nancy, Brian and Nancy, Rick and Jackie and cousins in Manitoba and Ontario, as well as his girlfriend Sara and his best friend Scott. Close friends Shannon, Lindsay, Rayhan, Andy and Graham as well as his many other friends. Kris is at peace with his grandparents Clare and Jean Thibert and all his great-grandparents who are all embracing him with love. Kris was born January 17, 1980 in Dauphin, Manitoba and lived in Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, Boissevain and Winnipeg. Kris graduated from Westwood Collegiate in 1998 and was presently in his second year working towards a degree in Education at the University of Winnipeg. Kris has a very special bond with his sister Shannon. The love and pride they shared for one another could be seen by the sparkle in their eyes and the tone in their voices when the spoke of each other. They referred to each other as their best friend. Kris was a very special person who loved life and lived it to the fullest. He treasured his friends. They were his wealth, and his time with them was invaluable. He loved his camping trips with his friends and just being with them. He could spend hours listening to music and playing strategy games. He had incredible athletic ability and loved to play volleyball, basketball, and baseball. He was part of the Provincial Volleyball Championship Team at Westwood in 1996. He took great pride in his accomplishments in baseball including a Provincial Championship, 10 consecutive years playing in the Provincials including playing on the Manitoba Team at the Nationals when he was younger. He gave endless credit to his team-mates and considered them friends. Kris had a never-ending sense of humour that he was renowned for. Anyone who knew him, will always remember his smile and a laugh that could light up a room. He touched so many lives from coaching youth teams in all his favorite sports to helping put on dances for young teens and entertaining family and friends with stories and jokes endlessly. He was so excited anticipating his teaching career, He talked endlessly of the students he was teaching and how incredible they were. He would have been a great teacher. For your endless support, emotionally and physically, we wish to express our deepest gratitude to the Winnipeg Police Department, Child Find Manitoba, all our friends and all those who have never ever met Kris but understood how special he is. A special thank you to Lianna McDonald, you are a special angel. As Kris wished, cremation has taken place and a service celebrating Kris life will take place on Tuesday, October 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kris memory may be made to Child Find Manitoba, 343-800 Portage Avenue, R3G 0N4. "Kris, your smile, your laughter and your loving touch will be missed. You will live on in our hearts and souls eternally."
