Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANNE GOWER (MOODY) With deepest regret we announce the passing of Anne Gower (Moody) on Thursday, October 19, 2000 at Hunter Memorial Hospital, Teulon, Man. at 84 years of age. Born August 3, 1916 and raised in Winnipeg, she married September 3, 1936. Predeceased by her beloved husband Major Philip Edwin Gower MC (1956) her parents, Hazel Annie (Tait) and Edward Thomas Moody; her sister Vivian; and brother Joseph (Mame) and Edward (Jean). Cherishing her memory are her children, Philip of Los Angeles, California, Marianne (Earl Dettrich) of Brandon, Charles of Teulon and Dianne Pearce of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Sandra (Lachie Macfadden), Thompson, Tammy Dettrich of Ottawa, Ont., Jenifer and Wendy Pearce of Winnipeg; great-grandchildren, Allen Bensen (A.J.) and Ewan Macfadden; sisters, Lilian (Ernest Giroux) of Montreal, Quebec, Ethel (Arthur Calow) of Surrey, B.C. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from across Canada and Los Angeles, California. Anne lived in Moose Jaw during the war years. After the safe return of her husband from a prisoner of war camp in Germany, she lived as an officers wife in Kingston, Ont., Gatineau Mills, Que., Ottawa, Ont., and Calgary, Alta. Returning to Winnipeg on the death of her husband; Anne enjoyed travelling, meeting new people, visiting friends and family members from B.C. to New Brunswick and down to San Bernardino and Los Angeles, California for a few months each winter in her later years. She loved living in the country near Teulon and music. She enjoyed playing the piano or her accordion for many people and singing along on a microphone. Anne became known affectionately as "the Bingo Kid" and enjoyed the game enormously. Anne gave of herself and will be fondly remembered for her joy of life, her generosity, her willingness to always help others and her many kindnesses. Much loved, sadly missed and fondly remembered. The family wishes to thank all the caregivers at Teulons Hunter Memorial Hospital for their care and support. If friends so desire, flowers are gratefully declined and ask that a donation to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301 - 352 Donald Street, Winnipeg or the Cancer Society be made in her memory. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, October 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, PTH #7, Teulon. Rev. Ken Anstie will officiate. MacKenzie Funeral Home Teulon in care of the arrangements.
