THIESSEN 1904 - 2000 Peacefully our Dad, Grandfather and Opa passed into his anticipated rest, in the dawning hours of October 21, 2000, at age 96. He leaves behind his loving and caring wife of 35 years, Erika; two sons, Peter (Marlies), Jack (Audrey) and two daughters, Anne (Gordon) Collie and Agnes Dyck, who gave tirelessly and lovingly of herself in his care. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren will remember him fondly. Dad was born in Einlage, Ukraine, on "his" cherished Dnieper, the fourth of eight children. He married Helena Krause in 1928 and immigrated to Canada in the same year, to Grunthal where he farmed till 1956. He found employment in his cherished City Park, in Winnipeg. Dad loved manual labour and maintained a positive, teasing disposition even after his health slowly left him. His last weeks at Poseidon were filled with grace and gentle goodness. He was recognized for his unique and special traits. It was in this climate of caring love that Dad entered peacefully into his eternal rest. Thank you staff. Funeral services will be held at Springfield Heights Mennonite Church, 570 Sharron Bay, Friday, October 27 at 10:30 a.m.. Viewing prior to the service. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 134 Plaza Drive, Winnipeg, R3T 5K9. Sanfte Ruh Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
