JOHN ROBERT (BOB) SIMPSON Passed peacefully on October 20, 2000 in Penticton Regional Hospital. His wife (and favourite cribbage victim) of 48 years, May Simpson (nee Taylor) was at his side. Bob was born May 9, 1925 in Kimberly, B.C. He served in the RCMP in rural Manitoba detachments from November, 1946, in Brandon, Minnedosa, Gladstone, Rossburn, Morden, Sprague, Portage la Prairie, back to Brandon, and then Selkirk until his retirement as a Sergeant in September, 1971. He then worked in Winnipeg for the Unemployment Insurance Commission as an investigator and supervisor. He transferred to the Penticton, B.C. office in December, 1981 and really retired in May, 1984. He was a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, an Honorary Life Member of the RCMP Veterans Association, and a director of the Federal Superannuates National Association - South Okanagan Division. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister Bette Yerka of Calgary; his sisters and brothers-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and good friends. His wife May; their son John (Jack) Richard Simpson of Vancouver and daughter Kathryn Grace Simpson (Kathy Evinger) of Winnipeg; granddaughters, Robyn and Kaitlyn, and great-grandson John Robert Simpson II deeply mourn their loss of this giving, caring, honourable man that they call husband/dad/grandpa and the wisdom and silent strength that he brought to his family and shared with all who were fortunate to know him.
