ETHEL HARRIET GROFF (TROTTER) On October 23, 2000 at the Fort Garry Care Centre, with her family by her side, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at the age of 93 years. Ethel was born August 4, 1907, in Indian Head, Saskatchewan. In 1926 she married Loyd Groff and they resided in Saskatchewan and Mather, Manitoba, moving to Winnipeg in 1953. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Loyd in 1982; infant son Murray; brothers, Joe and wife Edna, Lloyd; sons-in-law, Ross Pilkey and Floyd Thody and brother-in-law Roy Groff. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Gordon (Emily), Lorraine Pilkey, Merrill ( Linda), Shirley Thody, Barry (Dorothy) grandchildren, Cheryl (Steve) Melnyk, Darrell (Maria) Thody, David (Michele), Deborah (Michael) Girard, Derek (Betty), Wayne, Lori (Jamie) Hedberg and Lisa (Chris) Furia; great-grandchildren, Susan, Steven, Chris, Alex, Meagan, Alison, Ashley, Kyle and Christina. Ethel is also survived by her brother Vern (Jean) sister Helen (Bill) Hill and sisters-in-law, Muriel Trotter, Matilda Groff and many nieces and nephews. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. A private family interment will take place in Mather Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined.
