ED OLFERT It is in great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our husband, father and grandfather, Ed Olfert at Morden General Hospital on October 20, 2000 at the age of 58. Eds memory will be forever cherished by his loving wife Joyce (of 37 years) daughter Cheryl (Rob) and son Dwain (Melenie). He was a beloved grandfather to Amber, Carly, Olivia and Hailey. He is also survived by his father John Olfert, wife June of Nanaimo, B.C., and his sisters, Shirley Stevenson and Valerie Tangen-Wiebe and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Agatha Tangen and his step-father Roy Tangen. Ed was born in Altona on March 31, 1942. His mother opened a remnant shop in Altona and at a young age Ed showed his talents for business. He continued to work alongside his mother to expand the business to the M & A Fabrics we know today. Ed loved the connections and friends he made operating the business. Ed married Joyce Bluhm on November 17, 1962 and treasured their marriage and family. Ed was actively involved in his town, Morden. He was a volunteer fireman for over 25 years and continued to offer his skills to the Chamber of Commerce. Ed loved his yard and garden, and was only too happy to share it with his family and friends. He enjoyed hockey, golfing, fishing and waterskiing, which he took great pleasure in teaching his family and friends. But his greatest joy came from giving and spending time with his family. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Morden Bergthaler Mennonite Church on Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Morden Paramedics, Emergency staff, Morden Police and Nurse Mary Ann. Thank you to all those who have brought food and sympathies. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eds memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the United Way. MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long and not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take and each must go alone, Its part of the Masters Plan A step on the road to home. So when you are lonely and sick at heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me...but let me go. Wiebe Funeral Chapel, Morden in care of arrangements. 204-822-4755
