DEWIGHT HERBERT FRANK BEACH After a three and a half year struggle with cancer treatments, Dewight Beach slipped away peacefully at home on October 21, 2000. Dewight is survived by his devoted wife Roberta; sons, Kevin (Angela) of San Antonio and Kurtis (Angela) of Winnipeg; brothers, Bob, Les (Betty), Don (Sharon) and Charlie (Karen) and sisters, Valerie (Doug) Webster and Cathy (Gord) McFarlane and their families. He was predeceased by his brothers, David, Chris, Ed, and Doug as well as his parents. He will be greatly missed by his dog Chaz. Born in Selkirk on April 12, 1945, he was raised in Winnipeg, attending Miles Macdonell Collegiate. In 1966 Dewight joined the St. Vital Police and retired in 1998 as a Sergeant of the Winnipeg Police Service, after he served in almost every division, the later years as a detective. He was Past Master of Acacia Lodge 111, a post he struggled to fill, in spite of his ongoing illness and treatments. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling for many years at Chateau Lanes and was hooked by golf which was his passion right until the end. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dewights memory may be made to the Acacia Lodge c/o 318 Colvin Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 0G4 or you could plant something in his memory. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 24 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Glen Lawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. This celebration of Dewights life will also include a Masonic Tribute (Regalia may be worn).
