Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWAYNE RUSSELL DOHERTY 1954 - 2000 With deepest sorrow we announce the passing on Sunday, October 22, 2000 of our dear Wayne. Wayne Doherty was born September 8, 1954 in Thunder Bay, Ontario and spent his early years there. He was the second son of Alfred and Rose. Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Allison Buffie; parents Alfred and Rose Doherty; children Steve of Ontario, Kyle and Melanie of Calgary; brothers Alf (Denise) of Sudbury, Rob (Laurie) of Calgary and sister Suzann (Lawrence) of Thunder Bay; Allisons parents Harry and Eleanor Enns of Woodlands; Allisons brothers, Curt of Woodlands, Andrew (Lori) of Winnipeg and Nathan (Kate) of Surrey. Wayne was a favourite uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and will be missed by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Wayne loved his family and spoke fondly of his youth and the joys of his childhood. He was successful in the business world and traveled extensively. Waynes friends and associates are legion and he valued each and every one of them. He looked forward to the bike rides and participating in the MS 150 race, visits to Lake of the Woods, attending, MTC, and playing the guitar. "On the ranch" is where Allison and Wayne shared their life together. Anyone who knew Wayne personally knew of his love for "my Alli". Wayne loved living in the rural community of Woodlands, Manitoba and he and Allison enjoyed their brief years together. Wayne fell asleep with Allison by his side. He will be sadly missed, ever loved and always remembered. Wayne fought a valiant fight against his nemesis mesothelioma. Thanks go out to the many people who helped during Waynes illness: Darryl "Old Paint", Dyan, Kris and Matthew Ruston; Rick and Jean Olson; Dr. Parham, Dr. Jowett, nurses and staff on the fourth floor of the Grace General Hospital. In respect of Waynes wishes, cremation has taken place. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, October 27 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home at 4000 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Rev. S. Sharman officiating. A gathering will follow in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. Honourary pallbearers will be Rick Olson, Darryl Ruston, Jeff Riddell, Steve Woods, Gord Gage and Mark Ingebrigtson. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Waynes name to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society Manitoba Divisions. In tears we saw you sinking, we watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence, you fought so hard to stay. God saw you getting tired, when living was not to be. He showed His love for you, His Child, He whispered, "Come to me." "In Gods hands he rests." Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
