VENICE ALINE ODILE TODD On Saturday, October 21, 2000, at her residence in Elie, Man., Venice Aline Odile Todd, wife of the late Victor Todd, passed away at the age of 83 years. Prayer service will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Elie, Man., on Thursday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Elie, Man., on Friday, October 27 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the churchyard cemetery. Venice was born on May 23, 1917, daughter of Theophile (Duff) and Katherine Roy at Elie, Man., where she was raised and received her education. In 1937 she married Victor Todd. They resided at Elie and Sperling until 1944 when they moved to Bethany, Man., where her husband was employed with Pool Elevators. In 1978 they returned to Elie where she has continued to reside. Venice was a devoted Catholic and was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church at Minnedosa where she was an active member of the CWL as well as serving as president for several years. While residing at Bethany she was active in her community and served on the Bethany School Board and Hospital Aid Auxiliary. The family was also involved in the Bethany Curling Club where Venice was an avid curler. When she returned to Elie she was an active member of the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church. She was always a willing helper with church activities, funeral lunches and weddings. She was a member and served on the Board M.S.O.S. In her earlier years she enjoyed tending her garden, growing flowers, knitting and crocheting. Later she became involved in making stuffed animals which she sold or gave to her grandchildren. Venice was an avid reader and kept up on current affairs. Predeceased by her husband Victor in 1988, daughter Ila Audrey Heesaker in 1998, brothers: Dewey, Antoine, Alfred, Thomas, Dale, Charles, Orval, sister Valerie. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Gilbert and Diane of Calgary, her daughter Maureen and Leonard Bustin of Prince George, British Columbia; son-in-law Arthur Heesaker of Elie; grandchildren: Tod, Michael (Kathy), David (Madelaine), Valli, Peggy (Jason), Penny, Vicki, Tracy, Leon and Lori; great-grandchildren: Tianna, Brody, Jory, Rena, Amber, Jasmine, Rory, Thomas, Kateland. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Portage Office, 103 Wilkinson Crescent, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, R1N 1A7 or Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 0S6, or the Blessed Sacrament Church Building Fund, Elie, Manitoba. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
