SIMONE MARYJANE CLARE (ANTAYA) Peacefully in the early hour of October 24, 2000, after a brief struggle, surrounded by family, mom, grandma and great-grandma, passed into eternal rest. Simone was born at home in St. Boniface, Man. on April 17, 1913. She was predeceased by her parents, Noe and Evelina Antaya (Paquin) husband Allan Clare in 1995 and her 12 siblings, MaryAnne, Victoria, Florence, Antoinette, Agnes, RoseAnna, Yvonne, Albert, Hubert, Rolland, Henrie and Maurice. Simone leaves to mourn her children, Linda Clare (Nick), Paul Clare (Donna), Martin Clare (Ruth) and Diane Clare; her grandchildren, Garth, Danette, Keith, John, Shannon, Jeffrey, Timothy and Patrick; great-granddaughters, Pascale and Miranda and nieces, nephews and friends and not to be forgotten her seven grand-dogs. Simone spent her early years in St. Boniface and attended St. Josephs Academy. Music was a lifetime love and she was an accomplished pianist with unfulfilled dreams of being a concert pianist. Her children grew up to the sound of beautiful classical music. She married Allan Clare in 1940 and the couple settled to raise a family in the west end of the city. When the last child entered school, Simone went to work at Misericordia Hospital in the Admitting department. She retired as the department supervisor in 1975. Mom was a sociable woman who loved to visit and share a good laugh. A great cook, she received much enjoyment in preparing and serving good food (equated with love) to family and friends. Mom enjoyed many healthy and happy years in retirement with dad and carried on valiantly following his death, maintaining a positive attitude and a healthy outlook on life, always ready for a trip or outing. Simone had an unshakable, abiding, spiritual faith that sustained and guided all aspects of her life. She was defined by her generosity to charities supporting the less fortunate. The family wishes to thank the St. Boniface Hospital physicians for their assistance and especially the nurses for their hands-on bedside caring and kindness for mom and for the family 24 hours a day. According to Simones wishes, cremation has taken place and a private service was held, facilitated by Deacon Alex Drobot. "Parting is all we know of heaven, And all we need of hell." Emily Dickinson
