QUENTIN ALLEN BERQUIST May 28, 1935 - October 6, 2000 Sequim, WA resident Quentin Allen Berquist died at age 65 while visiting Cape Lookout State Park in Oregon. He was born in Baudette, MN, to Henry William and Ruth Marie (Steineke) Berquist and had four years military service with the Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. Mr. Berquist received his bachelors degree from California State University in Long Beach. On January 21, 1966, he married Sylvia Joanne Stark of Winnipeg in Long Beach, CA. He retired with the rank of commander after 27 years service with the Long Beach Police Department, then worked for seven years for the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Port Angeles. He loved the water, enjoyed sailing and had just built a classic wooden sailboat. He was a charter member of Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center and a member of Sequim Presbyterian Church. The Berquists loved classical music and attended Port Angeles Symphony concerts. He was a quiet, gentle man who was always available to help family, friends and neighbours. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Sylvia and his sister Sylvia Marie Pruit, both of Sequim. A memorial service was held Saturday, October 14 in Sequim Presbyterian Church.
