Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNICK FEDORY Following a lengthy illness, Nick (Nykola) Fedory passed away peacefully at the Seven Oaks Hospital on October 24, 2000. Nick was born on August 7, 1915 at Nove Selo, Western Ukraine. He immigrated to Canada from Belgium in 1952, and took up residence in Winnipeg with his wife Zina and daughter Marika. Six years later, a son Zenon was born. Nick was employed at various jobs in Winnipeg, the last being with the University of Manitoba Maintenance Department, where he retired in August of 1980. Nick enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren. As well, he enjoyed travelling with his wife Sophie to various locations throughout the world, especially Hawaii. He took great pride in his garden, both at the lake and at his home. Nick was a longtime member of the Seniors Club of Institute Prosvita and Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. Nick is survived by his wife of 17 years Sophie; daughter Marika Bandera (Barry McCurdy) son Zenon Fedory; step-son Michael Kohaykewych and eight grandchildren, Stepan, Danya and Olenka Bandera, Mykola and Petro Fedory, Mark, Larysa and Stefan Kohaykewych. He also leaves his sister Eva and numerous relatives in Ukraine. Nick was predeceased by his parents, Mykola and Maria; his infant son Volodymyr; his wife Zina; sisters, Ksenia and Kateryna; brothers Mychajlo, Kostyk, Ivan, Andrij and Hryhorij, as well as his son-in-law Andrij Bandera. Panakhyda will be sung 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 29 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 30 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. with Bishop Stefan Soroka and Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandson Mykola Fedory and granddaughters, Danya and Olenka Bandera and Larysa Kohaykewych. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Petro Fedory, Stepan Bandera, Stefan Kohaykewych, Mark Kohaykewych; nephew Andrew Matwyczuk and friends, Brook Jones and Alan Dudych. On the same date of October 30, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Nicks family and friends in Ternopil, Ukraine. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Husarewycz and the nurses and staff of Seven Oaks Hospital for the kindness and care extended to Nick. A special thank you to Nicks "Guardian Angels" Magdelaine Harnaga and Gloria Vaughan who spent countless days and hours looking after Nick. Sincere appreciation to Dumka Choir, relatives and friends who have all made special arrangements to pay their respects to Nick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
