H. JAMES NODDER December 23, 1920 - October 19, 2000 On Thursday, October 19, 2000, after a brief illness, it is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Jim, dearly beloved husband of Florence; devoted Dad of son Barry (Sheila), of Vernon, B.C., daughter Linda Wolch, and loving Grandpa of Amanda Wolch McNaughton (Don) of Washington, D.C., Eden, Glynnis (Lorne Kravetsky) of Windsor, ON., Shana (Eric Stearns Jr.) and Gavin. Jim is also survived by his sister Hilda Fraser of Nova Scotia. Jim was predeceased by his parents and one sister. Jim was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he attended Laura Secord and Gordon Bell schools. He began working for Canadian General Electric prior to joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. While overseas in England Jim met and married Florence in 1943. After the war ended and on return to Winnipeg, he resumed working with General Electric. In 1949, Jim was transferred to Saskatoon where he, Florence and children spent a happy 17 years. In 1966, Jim and family were transferred back to Winnipeg, where he retired from General Electric in 1985. Throughout his entire career and after his retirement, Jim always made his family his first priority. Jim touched the lives of many people and he will be sadly missed, especially by Shirley (Blanche) Dyer who treasures her memories of "Mr. Jim". During his illness, Jim and Florence and their family particularly appreciated the caring strength and support of special friends Eric Stearns Jr. and Sue and Frank Hechter. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Doctor and Mrs. Eric and Linda Stearns; also the dedicated nurses, doctors, and staff at the Grace Hospital. In keeping with Jims wishes, cremation took place and a Service of Remembrance was held on Saturday, October 21, at Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, with Reverend Don McIntyre officiating. Urn placement took place in the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley Street. A special thank you to Jacqueline Mackay F.D. and the staff at the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donation to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 100 Oliva Street, Winnipeg, MB., R3E OV9, in Jims memory would be gratefully appreciated.
