Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBERTHA POMRENKE Bertha Pomrenke, age 100, died on October 25, 2000 at the Emerson Personal Care Home. She was born in Fredenstal, MB on January 17, 1900, the daughter of Adolphe and Susanna Steg. In 1922 she married August Pomrenke, farming with him until retirement in Emerson in 1948. Predeceased in death by husband August in 1965, she is survived by son Emil and his wife Margaret; daughter Velma; grandchildren Kathy, Marlene and husband Michel and Mark; sisters-in-law, Lisa Steg of Emerson and Lydia Pomrenke of Kelowna, BC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bertha shared in all farm work and after retirement cared for her home lawn, garden and flowers until her mid-eighties when she moved to Southgate Haven. Her joy was to prepare multiple course dinners for family and friends. She was a faithful member of Zion in Fredenstal, where she sang in the choir and a member of the Emmanuel in Emerson. She enjoyed a 100th birthday celebration last January and although physically frail she remained in good mental health until almost the end. Funeral Services will be conducted by Rev. Paul Johnson at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 15 2nd Street, Emerson, MB on Monday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Fredenstal Cemetery. The family gratefully acknowledges the loving care provided for Bertha by the nurses and staff of the Emerson Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Emerson Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to a charity of ones choice. Wiebe Funeral Home Altona 204-324-5404 in care of arrangements.
