(BOB) ROBERT DARREN ROBINSON March 31, 1961 - October 14, 2000 Derrick and Jeff were shocked to learn of the accidental death of our brother. Bob leaves to mourn his newlywed bride Toni, and her parents, Ray and Marie Long, all of North Carolina where Bob resided. Tonis siblings, Debbie, Angela and Roger (and his partner Alise) were shaken by their sisters loss. Besides his brothers and their wives Rosa and Sara (and Bobs nephew Devin), Bob is survived by his father Leonard and his maternal grandmother Nellie Chornenki. Many friends have been touched by Bobs friendship and share our families grief. Bob was a graduate of Daniel McIntyre High and the Power Engineering Program at Red River College. Bob was the founder of Rum Runners Jeep Adventures in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, where he became conversationally fluent in Spanish with only an English translation dictionary at hand. The Caribbean, Costa Rica, Greece, Holland, Honduras, and the U.K. were some destinations of his worlds travels, before he and Toni finally settled in Banner Elk. Bob fell in love again with the mountains, the kind folk, and more deeply with Toni and life itself in the high country. Bob was athletic and was comfortable on his motorcycle, snowboard, parasail, in a raft or on a mountain trail. Bees, Billie the goat, Pussycat and Sweep had become his latest companions. Sweep was found nearby watching over Bobs injured body - truly, she was this mans best friend. Bob was a natural entrepreneur and was building a dream for himself and Toni at the time of his death. Unfortunately, he will not realize a tourism business idea on an exceptionally beautiful piece of land that is as close to Heaven as one can get here on earth. Ironically, Toni is that much closer to Bob, and maybe, she can draw upon his nearness to see their goal for independence to completion. At Bobs request, cremation has taken place and his remains will return back to some of the very places he had travelled, including his birthplace, Winnipeg. Bobs life was celebrated at a Halloween Theme Pig Pickin in his log cabin at his home in North Carolina on October 21. A good bad time was had by all. Halloween was Bobs favourite time of celebration. In keeping with tradition, a Hobo Party seems in order. Friends and family are invited to meet at The West End Dump tomorrow between 2 and 4. Costumes are encouraged, but optional. Bobs life-long friend Kerry at Gags Unlimited may be able to help out those in a pinch. Cans or plastic. No glass. Weinies and marshmallows. Bring your own stick. Come and share - see you there. Bobs memorial will be videotaped and sent to Toni. Toni will be trying to celebrate her birthday tomorrow too. Lets share some cheer! Rest Peacefully Young Brave
