JAROSLAW ROMANIAK Suddenly on Thursday, October 26, 2000 at the age of 78. Jaroslaw was born in Drohobych, Ukraine on May 3, 1922. Left to mourn his passing are his wife Stephania; daughter Marta, son-in-law George; grandchildren, Larissa, Roman and Jurij; brother Myron and sister Antosia; brother Stephan and sister-in-law Irena; nieces, Darka and Roma; sister-in-law and husband, Olha and Petro Werhun and their families. Jaroslaw and his wife emigrated to Canada in 1949. He was a talented man and worked for various firms in Winnipeg culminating in a 21 year career at Bristol Aerospace prior to his retirement in 1987. During his life Jaroslaw was known in the Ukrainian Community as an accomplished woodcarving artisan. He founded "Rizba" School of Woodcarving and displayed his works at numerous exhibitions including many years at Canadas National Ukrainian Festival in Dauphin. His work adorns many Ukrainian homes and churches throughout Canada. Jaroslaw will be remembered for his love of nature. He was always active with his hobbies around the home, tending to his pigeons, dogs, fish and gardening. He was a spiritual man and an active member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral. Jaroslaw was also a member of a number of Ukrainian patriotic organizations including SUM, Institute Prosvita, LUC, as well as supporting many others. He especially enjoyed his family life and cherished his children and grandchildren. His positive attitude and sense of humour will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Pankahyda will be sung 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 30 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 31 also at the cathedral with Rev. M. Kouts officiating. Interment to follow in All Saints Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be M. Dlugosh, W. Dlugosh and A. Ruest. Active Pallbearers, S. Werhun, J. Werhun, K. Jensen, M. Masserey, R. Surowy and A.
