She was predeceased by her husbands, James (Dooley) Freeman in 1995 and Elgin Graham Gork in 1970, and her parents Alexander and Margot Barclay. Born in Kenora on February 3, 1924, she always loved the Lake of the Woods and had a wide circle of close friends who remained with her throughout her life. Peggy boarded at St. Marys Academy during her school years, and she and Elgin settled in Winnipeg after they married. She was active in many volunteer and charitable causes including St. John Brebeuf Parish, the Girl Guides (retiring as District Commissioner) and the St. Agnes Guild of the Childrens Hospital of which she was a life member. Peggy enjoyed her many friends in her bridge clubs and at the Winnipeg Winter Club. She loved to golf at the Wildewood and Southwood Golf and Country club, and in San Diego and Florida where she and Dooley enjoyed winter vacations. Dooley cared for mom with great compassion after her stroke, and they kept each other going for many years. The family wishes to thank the staff, residents and families of the Convalescent Home for being wonderful, supportive friends and making her final years of life so enjoyable. Peggy was a devoted wife and mother, a great friend, and quite a character. We miss you already Mom, enjoy the rest, you deserve it.
