Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET ALLEEN DILLABOUGH It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret Dillabough on October 29, 2000 at Minnedosa Hospital. Margaret and her twin sister Ellen (Belby) were born in the Adamaston Township of Renfrew County, Ontario on November 6, 1921 to John and Mary Lefurgy. She grew up in a family of eight siblings: four sisters, Ida (Creaser), Edna (Pettigrew), Marion (McManus), Irene (Stapleton) and three brothers, Harvey, Allan and George. At the tender age of three, Margaret and her family made their way to Manitoba. Minnedosa would become the hometown in which Margaret would grow up, work and play, fall in love, marry and start a family. She married Sidney Sproule Dillabough on March 20, 1940 and raised a family of five, two daughters and three sons. After Sidney received his discharge papers from the army, the family would move to Winnipeg for employment opportunities, but Minnedosa was never far away. It was while they were living in Winnipeg that Margaret would extend her family by caring for foster children through the Childrens Aid Society and serving for a time as a Nurses aid in a care home. In 1976 Sidney retired from the CNR and soon after they would return to Minnedosa, where they built their retirement home and live out their days, rekindling old friendships and starting new ones. Margaret was an active member of the Legion and the Royal Purple Ladies Auxiliary. Margaret was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Harvey, Allan and George; sister Ida and husband Sidney and her son Leslie. Left to celebrate her spirit are her daughters, Donna Mekar, Doreen (Metro Yakiwchuk) her sons, Beverly (Victoria), William (Isabelle) and all her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; her sisters and spouses and nieces and nephews. Margarets family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the staff and doctors of the Minnedosa Hospital, all that came to visit her or phoned to express their concern. Margarets family would also like to express their eternal appreciation to Margarets neighbour and friend Irene Robinson for all that she has done for Margaret over the years. A viewing will be held November 3 at 7:00 p.m. and a service will be held November 4 at 2:00 p.m., both at the Sparrow Funeral Home, 34 - 3rd Ave. SW in Minnedosa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Margarets memory to the Heart and Lung Association of Canada. THE SPIRIT SHALL RETURN UNTO GOD WHO GAVE IT. Ecclesiastes 12:7
