DAVE ORTON Mr. Dave Orton of Calgary, Alta., passed away on Friday, October 27, 2000, at the age of 42 years. He is survived by his loving family and mother, Evelyn Kriticos; stepsister Fran (Kenny), Debbie (Peter), Nicole (Ken) aunt Rose Carriere (Blake), Cindy, Darryl (Lynette), Michelle (Jeff) uncle Bob (Jane), Jeremy, Mathew, Gavin; aunt Florence (Don), all of Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver and Washington. Dave was predeceased by his father Harold in 1967, brother Ron in 1970 and his stepfather Frank in 1997. Dave was born and raised in Transcona. He played organized hockey up to the Junior level with the Transcona Railers Hockey Club, a period of his life that he treasured and which always remained important to him. In his younger days, Dave worked at the Transcona Golf and Country Club where he developed a love of the game of golf. This was just one of the many sporting activities that Dave enjoyed to the fullest. He graduated from Transcona Collegiate in 1976 and later went on to graduate from Red River Community College with an Electrical Technology diploma in 1979. At the time of his passing, Dave was the president of TransWest Design Associates, a local engineering firm based in Calgary. Dave is fondly remembered amongst his many friends and associates as a "social convener" extraordinaire. One of Daves greatest talents was networking people together. Dave enjoyed summers at Grand Beach and water skiing in his beloved Shuswap. If success is measured by the number of friends made and lives touched, then Dave was the most successful person we knew. A funeral service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 3, at 1:00 p.m. (TransCanada Hwy. #1 East at Navin Road). Telephone 222-3241.
