Marguerite will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Bert McDole of Brandon; nephew Jim McDole of Winnipeg; nieces, Janie (Tom) Breneman of Brandon, Carla (Rick) Fulton of Birtle; great nieces, Jodie (Jon Zilkey) Breneman of Brandon, Kara Breneman of Sydney, Australia, Jill Fulton of Regina; great nephews, Chris (Kim) Breneman of Hamiota and Tim Fulton of Winnipeg. Marguerite was born at the family home in Cypress River on November 3, 1901 moving to Winnipeg with her family in 1904. She attended Mulvey School and Kelvin High School graduating from Grade 11 in 1918. Marguerites fourty six year teaching career began in 1919 at Lakeview School near Swan Lake. She also taught at Croll, St Daniels near Carmen and Crandall, coming to Brandon in 1928 to teach at Earl Oxford Junior High. In 1934 she moved to Brandon Collegiate Institute where she taught for 18 years. While in Brandon, Marguerite was active in the Brandon Womens Teachers Association and was also a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi. In 1952 she accepted a teaching position at St. James Collegiate in Winnipeg. In 1954 she started teaching future teachers when she accepted a position at the Manitoba Normal School retiring in 1965 from the Faculty of Education at the University of Manitoba. Marguerite began teaching with a special permit and attended summer school for many years to earn her Bachelor of Arts in 1930 from the University of Manitoba and her Bachelor of Education in 1944. Auntie Marguerite always took a great interest in the activities of her nephew, nieces and later her great nieces and nephews and in 1984 she moved back to Brandon to be closer to us. She was a strong willed, independent woman who at 96 years of age was still washing her floor on her hands and knees. Unfortunately in 1998 failing health made it necessary for her to move to Central Park Lodge where she lived until her passing. A family graveside service was held at the Elgin Cemetery on Wednesday, November 1. If friends so desire, memorial donations can be made to The Elgin Community Fund c/o The Brandon Area Foundation, Box 216, Brandon, MB R7A 5Y8. Arrangements were entrusted to Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, Manitoba.
