Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKATHERINE PHILLIPS (HINATSU) (nee FUJII) Peacefully with her three children at her side, Katherine Teruko Phillips passed away on November 1, 2000 at Concordia Place Personal Care Home. Katherine was predeceased by her parents, Hyogoro and Sen Fujii and her sister Edna Fujii. Katherine was born on February 5, 1924 in Hop Bay, Pender Island, B.C. Mom was loving and caring to her children, whom she raised on her own. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Characteristic of her nurturing nature, Mom was employed as a government homecare giver prior to her retirement. She spent her leisure hours playing Bingo and cards with her many friends and grandchildren. Katherine leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her children; Kathy Grabowski (Herbert), Larry Hinatsu (Lynne), and Jenny Peacock (Bob). Grandma will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Sheri and Glen Grabowski, Kim and Sean Hinatsu, Kyle and Allison Peacock; great grandson Alexander Hobson. As well as her sisters Allan Sasaki, Mary Mori, Hilda Mitsubata, and brothers Sam and Steve Fujii. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Herbert and Glen Grabowski, Bob and Kyle Peacock, Sean Hinatsu and Bruce Sabatini The family would like to give Special Thanks to the second floor Concordia Place Nursing Staff and the staff at Deer Lodge Centre 3rd floor T.A.C.T. Bed Unit for the excellent care given to Mom. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Avenue, R3C 0S6 or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, R3B 2H8.
