EVELYN McCURDY Peacefully on November 1, 2000 Evelyn McCurdy passed away at the age of 96 years. Evelyn was born in Winnipeg in 1904. In 1931 she married Alex McCurdy and they lived in Gypsumville most of their life. Evelyns main joys in life were her family and she loved when the family all came home for special occasions. She especially enjoyed the young people. Evelyn enjoyed playing the piano and sometimes the violin and liked to entertain us all. Her indoor flowers were always a joy for her to look after. She will be sadly missed by her family and especially by her son Ron whom she lived with until her stroke. She leaves to mourn daughter Dorothy (Alex) Rawluk, daughter Mildred Elstone; sons, Ronald, Kenneth, and Gordon; grandchildren Warren (Louise) Rawluk, Norma Burrows, Evie Rawluk, Calvin (Donna) Rawluk, Millie (Dale) Meyer, Karen Elstone and Cheryl Elstone; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Alex in 1966, her sister Edna Craig in 1984, her brother Albin Backlund in 1985 and her sister Hilda Lawrence in 1991. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gypsumville Community Hall with Rev. Stan Fowke officiating. Interment to follow in the Gypsumville Cemetery. Viewing at the hall prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Warren Rawluk, Calvin Rawluk, Chris Rawluk, Ben Rawluk, Jeff Burrows and Brad Burrows. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Lakeshore General Hospital for the care Mom received after her stroke, also the wonderful care she had at the Eriksdale Personal Care Home and the compassionate care at the Eriksdale Hospital before her death. A special thanks to Janet Jundt for the many hours spent helping and caring for Mom when we werent there, also for being such a wonderful friend.
