BARBARA IRENE SHERRITT Surrounded with the love of her family, Barbara Irene Sherritt passed away on October 12, 2000 at Souris District Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Pat (Irwin James) Sherritt in 1991; her mother Doris Low; niece Cathy Lee Ellis and brothers-in-law, Frank Stainer, George McKinnon, Stewart Anderson and Allan (Sonny) Rowland. Barbaras memory will forever be cherished by her father Ed Low; sister Dorothy (George) Ellis and Audrey (Stan) Fulham; children, Dean (Debbie), Dawn (Bill), Heather (Norman), Ted (Marnie) and her treasured grandchildren, Stacey and Jamie; Scott and Jason; Aaron, Sean, Jodi and Madison; sister-in-law Eunice Stainer, Iris McKinnon (Jim), Norma Anderson, Jean Rowland, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services were held at St. Pauls United Church with Rev. John Oldenkamp officiating, interment followed at the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. A lovely lunch was served by the UCW afterwards in the auditorium. Mom was born May 6, 1936 and lived on the family farm at Foxwarren. After graduation she moved to Winnipeg and attended Success Business College and worked for awhile. On October 26, 1957 she married dad and began her life in Souris. She began working at Forrest and Forrest law offices taking a break in 1960 to start a family and stayed home with us. She returned to the work force in the early 70s and returned to Forrest and Forrest in 1974 where she spent many a happy year until ill health forced her to retire. Mom was always willing to participate in her community where ever she felt she could help. She spent countless hours working for the good of her children. She developed many close friendships through her involvement in the United Church, UCW, Legion Auxiliary, Health Auxiliary, Golf Club, minor hockey and figure skating. Above all else mom loved her children and was especially proud of her grandchildren, family meant everything to mom. We have many fond memories of family holidays, sightseeing, and travelling in Canada and the United States. We are grateful for the time that we got to spend with her, for the life lessons that she taught us and the people she helped us to become. We knew she would always be there for us and for that we will always remember her. IM FREE Dont grieve for me, for now Im free Im following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day To laugh or love or work or play. My lifes been full, I savoured much Good friends, good times, a loved ones touch Perhaps my time seemed all to brief. Dont lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart and share with me God wanted me now, He sets me free.
