Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTEPHEN G. PEARCE Our family sadly announces the peaceful passing of Stephen George Pearce, beloved husband of Katherine Pearce on November 2, 2000, at the age of ninety-six. Steve will be forever remembered by his children (and grandchildren), Marie and Roy Primmett, (Jeffrey and David), of Calgary, AB, Doris and Warren Brooke (Allison and Lindsay) of London, ON, and David and Gayle Pearce (Jada and Brett) of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by sisters, Olga and Nell as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Orest (Sonny) in 1958; sisters Minnie, Marion, Pauline and his parents, George and Ann Pidwerbetsky. Steve was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan on March 17, 1904. He married Katie Tetarenko in 1938. Together they farmed until moving to Winnipeg in 1941. He was employed by Westeel Rosco as a tool and dye maker for thirty-five years; retiring in 1970. During this time he became the first manager of the Westeel Employees Credit Union and served many years as a board member of C.U.N.A. Mutual. In 1977 he was honoured as a pioneer in the credit union movement. He was also an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed many years of curling in the retirement league at Deer Lodge C. C. and was a lifetime member of the Pembina C.C. At age sixty-five, he took up golf, playing twice weekly at Crescent Drive. Blindness eventually forced him to forgo these activities that he loved so much. Above all, he enjoyed the love and devotion of his grand-children. There will be a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, with interment to follow in Garry Memorial Park. Our thanks to the Oakview Place Nursing Home for the care extended to Dad during the last four years. We especially thank Beth for being such a kind and faithful volunteer.
