Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT FRANCIS HAMMOND October 2, 1935 - November 1, 2000 It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our husband, father and papa, Robert Francis Hammond on Wednesday, November 1, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital. Bob will be greatly missed by his wife Myrna; daughters, Cheryl of Edmonton, Heather (David) Ironside and grandchildren; Kirsten and Sara, father-in-law Joe Bartley; brother-in-law Lyle (Shirley) Bartley; niece Kara (Ken) Hamilton and baby Jacob of Toronto. Bob was predeceased by his father Melvin (January 1984) his mother Pearl (July 1996) and his mother-in-law Philippine Bartley (May 2000). Bob was born in Boissevain, Manitoba on October 2, 1935 the only child of Melvin and Pearl Hammond. He spent his early years in Boissevain helping his father and driving trucks for Hammond Transport. He met his wife Myrna at a Young Peoples Group at Greenwood United Church and they were married on September 22, 1962. During his working days Bob held a variety of jobs. His greatest joy in his work was meeting people and he enjoyed a good rapport with his customers until his illness prevented him from working. Bobs interest and enjoyment of trains led to many family vacations either riding on a train, or watching trains (even on his honeymoon). We will miss his wit, knowledge and advice on almost any topic. Viewing will be held on Sunday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley Street. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 6, at 2:00 p.m. in the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Boulevard., with Rev. Michael Wilson and Rev. Joanne Kury officiating. The service will terminate at the church. Special thanks to Lyle, Shirley, Marilyn and Don for their consistent support and especially to Don who spent time with Bob taking him out for drives for coffee or just visiting. The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff on 6A West, St. Boniface Hospital, especially Lucien who was so kind and caring and also to Denis. Our heartfelt appreciation to the staff on the Palliative Care Ward, whose comfort and support helped us through this difficult time and to Gertrude who kept him safe in his last nights. We especially would like to thank Eleanor Brownlee, Pastoral Care Services who was such a comfort to Bob and our family during this difficult time. Our thanks also to the Home Care Staff at 139 Tuxedo, especially Martino who brought some humour to Bob in his difficult times, and to all our family and friends. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB., R3C OS6 or to the Palliative Care Ward, St. Boniface Hospital. You will always be cherished in our hearts Papa - Kirsten and Sara. LEATHERDALE GARDINER 1501 Waverley Street 949-4860
