LILLIAN MARY KIRK (nee BROWNING) Peacefully, on November 1, 2000, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at age 51. Lillian was predeceased by her mother Aida Lillian, her father James Henry and her sister Betty Ann. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Bruce; two brothers James (Linda) and Tony (Terri) Browning; nephews and nieces Jamie, Josh, Joey and Jesse, Erin and Chelsea; uncle Les Browning, aunt Carmel Girard; parents-in-law Robert and Edna Kirk; brothers-in-law Ross and Brian (Barbara, James, Graham, Andrew) Kirk; friends Gaye and Bruce Ward, Wendy and Soe Lin (Shan, Hahn), Lorraine and Derek Dadd (Susan, Steve) plus many other family and close friends. Lillian was born on June 27, 1949 in Montreal. After her marriage to her husband Bruce in 1973, they lived for nearly 20 years in Ottawa, moving to Winnipeg in 1992. Lillian worked for many years for the Agricultural Institute of Canada before embarking on a successful career as a travel consultant, prior to retiring in 1998. Lillian was a truly remarkable individual who always treated others with respect, caring and love. While a private person in many ways, Lillian easily made a large number of close knit friends wherever she lived and worked. She shared a great love for gardening, crafts and needlepoint with several close friends as well as retaining a life long interest in travel and the travel industry. Regardless of the endeavour, Lillian always put her heart and soul into everything she did. Above all else, however, was the love that Lillian carried for family and friends, especially her nieces and nephews as well as her extended family, the children of close friends. Lillian always reveled in their activities and accomplishments, remembering their key dates and sharing her love and interests with them. According to wishes, cremation has taken place. A reception to celebrate Lillians life will be held at St. Charles Country Club, 100 Country Club Boulevard, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Lillians memory may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia Street, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
