Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN IVY JANE KIBBLEWHITE April 20, 1912 - October 21, 2000 Evelyn Wilkie (nee Kibblewhite), born 1912, was a well-known soprano soloist in Winnipeg in the 30s where she performed in chorales and oratorios, winning top honours in festivals. At Canadian Airways, she served as secretary for early northern bush pilots. In 1936 she married Rev. Duncan Wilkie, then minister of West Kildonan Church and later Chalmers United Church in Winnipeg. The Wilkies moved to Shaunnessy Heights United Church in Vancouver for the wartime years, then to Knox United Church in Saskatoon. Returning to the west coast in 1959, the Wilkies served at St. Davids in West Vancouver before retirement in Kerrisdale. Mrs. Wilkie passed away peacefully after a long hospitalization. The family extends their gratitude to her kind care givers. She is survived by her brother Robert Kibblewhite; her children, Barbara Wilson, Gerald Wilkie, Robert Wilkie; her grandchildren, Bronwen, Patrick and Brendan Wilson, Jaana Lunny and Max Wilkie, and six great-grandchildren. An informal service will take place at Ocean Park Cemetery in Burnaby on December 9 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences to Box 2, Edgewater, BC V0A 1E0. In lieu of flowers, remembrance contributions may be sent to the High Purdy Pavilion, UBC Vancouver Hospital Extended Care, 2221 Wesbrook Mall, Vancouver V6T 2B5 (attention: Ms Susan Fong).
