DONALD ALEXANDER McINNES It is with great sadness I wish to announce the passing of my beloved husband and best friend of 57 years, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Donald (Don) Alexander McInnes, at the age of 78. Don was born in Winnipeg, Man. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Lieutenant. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Brandon, Winnipeg and Westlock, Alta. for 35 years until returning to Brandon upon retirement in 1977. After retirement Don and Noreen spent many years in Gods beautiful country, camping in their trailer and R.V. and visiting family and friends. Don worked for many years with minor hockey in several capacities from coach to president. He refereed hockey until he was 62. Don was an avid collector of hockey and baseball cards, pins, stamps, and coins. He worked for years with the Church of the Nazarene as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent, lay preacher, and he also served on the board. Don was always on call for his Lord, and served in any and all areas when needed. Don loved to golf and fish. His last wish was to spend a holiday fishing in northern B.C. Don spent July and August doing what he loved best. Don is survived by his wife Noreen; children, Donna Hyndman-Cook (Calgary, Alta.), Lynda (Richard) Martin (Chetwynd, B.C.), Bonnie (Dennis) Saunders (Brandon), Barbara (Wayne) Cox (Red Deer, Alta.), Don (Cathy) McInnes (Chetwynd, B.C.), David (Susan) McInnes (Winnipeg), Jo-Ann (Guy) Werry (Flin Flon), Shawn (Darcy) McInnes (Westbank, B.C.) and Rick (Shauna) McInnes (Brandon). Dion is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Jim) McKenzie and Muriel Tombling; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith McInnes, Evelyn (Weldon) Robertson, Edna Smith, and Kay (Doug) Ardon; and also many nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his mother Christina; father Alexander; brother William (Bill) sisters, Anne and Bonnie; grandson Conan; mother and father-in-law, Jemima and Norman Rikley; two brothers-in-law, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law. Funeral service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Tuesday, November 7 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Richard McInnes officiating. A graveside service will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at Calvary Temple, 620 34th Street, following the committal service. Donations in Dons memory may be made to the Gideons Bible Society, P.O. Box 20060, Brandon, MB, R7A 5Y8, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203 - 42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 2B2. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, 727-0694. "God keep you safe in the arms of Jesus, my love, until we all come home."
