Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRETIRED STAFF SERGEANT MAJOR JAMES L. JOHNSTON It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James L. Johnston at the Grace Hospital on November 3, 2000. Jim leaves to mourn his loving wife Barbara; brothers, Keith (Denise) of Minneapolis, Minnesota and family and Dale (Ellen) and family of Watson, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Iola (formerly of Leroy, Saskatchewan) and by his brother Gerald. Jim was born in Lanigan, Saskatchewan and was raised in Leroy, Saskatchewan. He joined the R.C.M.P. in Humboldt, training in Regina and Rockcliffe, Ontario and spent 28 years in the force. He was stationed in Beausejour, Lac Du Bonnet, Ashern, Steinbach, Gretna, Thunder Bay, Minnedosa and Winnipeg. He was a President and life member of the R.C.M.P. Veterans Association and the Manitoba Protective Officers Association. Upon retirement, Jim joined the provincial government as the Chief Security Officer for the Province of Manitoba for 13 years. Barbara wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Mulder and the staff of 4 West at the Grace General Hospital for the care and kindness shown Jim during his illness. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 7, at 11:00 a.m. in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Following a reception, the interment will take place in the Beausejour Cemetery.
