Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT JULIEN LEYS 1927 - 2000 After a courageous but brief encounter with cancer, Albert peacefully passed away at Seven Oaks General Hospital on Saturday, November 4, 2000 at the age of 72 years. Albert will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Mariette; daughters Rita Ward (Grant) and Susan Sywak (Bohdan) son Eric Leys (Shelley) and his precious grandchildren, Jared, Sean, Trent, Jessica, Daria and Ashley. He also leaves to mourn his brother Robert Leys (Denise) and sisters Jean Roeland (Caesar), Laurette Godard (Roger) and Jeannette Baril (Denis) of Edmonton; also sister-in-law Henriette Kleemola of Langruth; brother-in-law Andre De Witte of Belgium and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents Angele and Kleber Leys. Albert was born in Tielt, Belgium on December 16, 1927. He was married and immigrated to Winnipeg in 1951. Albert worked as a finishing carpenter initially for P. Boel Construction and for many years for his brother Robert, Pynoo Construction and Woodland Supply. He semi-retired to Clandeboye, Man., December 1986. Albert thoroughly enjoyed his retired life; a lover of outdoors, he was into gardening, nature and long walks in the country. He was a gentle loving man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. His love for his wife, family and grandchildren who he lovingly nicknamed either "Princess", "Lord" or "Duke" will be everlasting. Celebration of his life to take place on Tuesday, November 7 at 3:00 p.m. in the P. Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. Father Louis McCloskey officiating. Services will terminate at the chapel. As to Alberts wishes, cremation has taken place and private family burial will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Our thanks to Dr. Taraska and the nursing staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital on third floor U5 and fifth floor U3. Special thanks to Dads "Angel" Brenda.
