Laura will be lovingly remembered by her children, Donna, Doug, Murray, Midge and John; other family members Ingrid Stephan, Cathy (Roach), Yvette (LaRiviere), and Kerry Linklater; grandchildren, Cindy, Brad, Marc, Christine, Andre, Michael, Stacy, Marnie, Alexandra, Nicola, and Andrew; her treasured life-long friend Gail Carruthers, as well as many numerous nephews and nieces and friends. Laura was born in 1915 on the family farm at Harte, Manitoba. After completing high school, she remained at home to help her mother before moving to Winnipeg to attend University of Manitoba where she graduated with a degree in Home Economics. Following university, Mom worked in the extension services of the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, where she touched many people with her sense of humour and love of life. After marrying Dad in 1949, her life was changed forever with the addition of five children in five years. Throughout the years, Mom was a devoted wife and mother, a great friend, and a real character. Noted by many for her great cooking and hospitality, Mom often quipped about starting her own diner, Lauras Lousy Lunches. Mom was the spirit of our family bringing music and mirth to any gathering of family and friends. We miss you Mom; enjoy the rest, you deserve it. Give Dad our love. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10 at 2:30 p.m. in Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Carberry, Man. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg R3J 3M7. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPEL 783-7211
