JULIA S. YOUNG May 9, 1958 - November 5, 2000 Julia is survived by her sister Lisa, and predeceased by her parents, Victor and Chrystabel. Julia was born in Winnipeg and attended Vincent Massey Collegiate in Fort Garry. She worked as a journalist and writer for the C.B.C. in Edmonton, freelanced in Winnipeg, wrote and produced Fringe Theatre in Edmonton and Winnipeg. She was working on a new production about life called "Peanut Butter, Chocolate, & Morphine". Julia declined conventional treatment, opting for a spiritual and nutritional approach to healing, with the occasional blood boost from the Victoria Hospital Emergency Ward. Our thanks to all the staff there and the fifth floor for their care and patience with our many camping adventures. Thanks to all who cared and supported her. There will be no formal service. Donations may be sent to the Gimli Wellness Center or The Childrens Wish Foundation, as Disneyland was the next adventure.

Julia was, like myself, a Fort Garry kid whose formative years were the 60s and 70s. Our acquaintanceship was glancing skirmishes all through the grade school system....later, we were better pals at Red River College. She was a plucky sort - talented, amiable and attractive, with an engaging personality. I had been out of touch with her for years, and with great sadness and chagrin learned of her passing. If only she had been granted many more years to live and contribute her gifts to the world. Since I feel her spirit is faring on in a realm beyond our understanding, I try not to grieve for Julia, but just remember her fondly - and with gratitude. - Posted by: Peter Friend (Friend and fellow traveler) on: Aug 11, 2020
