MARIE-ANGE DESROSIERS (nee PHANEUF) Peacefully, on Tuesday, November 7, 2000, Marie Desrosiers passed away at the Palliative Care Ward of the St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 80 years. Marie-Ange was born in St. Boniface on November 16, 1919. She was educated at the St. Joseph Academy. Marie-Ange met and married Felix Desrosiers; they were blessed with three children, Richard, Claudette, and Pauline. Marie-Ange worked in the Urology Department of the St. Boniface Hospital for over 20 years. She was nick-named "Sunshine" or "Angel" which reflected her life-long ambition of raising her children to have respect, love, care and compassion for all other people in their lives. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Camille; sisters, Julie, Lucille, and Yvonne; grandson, Chris Desrosiers; granddaughters, Sherri-Lynn, Flynn and Marcy Schmidt of Winnipeg as well as Pierre Gagne, Paulines husband, and Shirley Desrosiers, Richards wife. Marie-Ange was predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Camilla Phaneuf and by Lou Phaneuf, Germain Parent, and Annette Phaneuf. The family extends special thanks to Sister Madeleine of Pastoral Care and to the staff and doctors of the 6th Floor, Intensive Care and Palliative Care of the St. Boniface Hospital for their sincere warmth and dedication. Funeral services for Marie-Ange will be held at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald St. in St. Boniface on Friday, November 10. Father Ron Leger will celebrate the Memorial Mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment of Marie-Anges cremated remains will take place in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Archibald Street, following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make a donation in Marie-Anges memory to the St. Boniface Research Centre, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, R2H 2A6.
