ERNEST FRANK APPLER Ernest Appler passed away November 6, 2000 at the age of 69 years, and will be deeply missed by his loving family and wife Kay; three daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Robert of Dallas, Texas, Leslie and Bary of Winnipeg, Leesa and Greg of Winnipeg, and his five granddaughters, Christine, Allison, Amanda, Haley, Jenna, and extended family. Ernie was born on August 28, 1931 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He graduated from Isaac Newton High School and worked for the CN Railway and VIA Railway for a period of 46 years, retiring in 1996. Ernie was predeceased by his mother and father, and two sisters Lydia and Elsa. He is survived by two sisters, Mitzi and Caroline. Ernie enjoyed family gatherings, and travelling south for the winter months. He was a very caring and hospitable person and very proud of his family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. The family would like to thank Dr. Garcia and staff at the Riverview Health Centre for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or to the Riverview Health Foundation, 1 Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 9Z9.
