CORINNE FRANCES BURKE Corinne Frances Burke (nee Lalonde) was born January 21, 1921 in St. Boniface. She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur Lalonde and Blanche Barbeau; her two brothers, Arthur and Leo Lalonde and her brothers-in-law, Steve Fraser, Jim MacKenzie and Joe Blick. She is survived by her only son Patrick, his wife Catherine and their three sons, Sean, Timothy and Kerry; her sisters, Virginia MacKenzie, Marie Fraser and Aurelie Blick, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to her. Corinne was educated at St. Marys Academy, where she excelled. During the war, she worked as a telephone operator. She then began work in the record industry, which became her lifelong career. Initially, Corinne was employed in the retail side of the business and many will remember her from her days at the Hudsons Bay downtown store and Lillian Lewis Records on Portage Avenue. She then moved to the wholesale side of the business with Phonodisc, CBS and London Records, covering a territory of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northern Ontario. Her knowledge of the business was encyclopedic and she made many lifelong friends across western Canada. Corinnes biggest accomplishment was raising her son as a single parent. No sacrifice was too big and those she made on his behalf were too numerous to count. Indeed, this concern for others extended to virtually everyone she encountered. She would literally give you the "shirt off her back", living proof that "a friend in need is a friend indeed". She was especially proud of her role as Grandma and she spoiled her grandsons whenever possible. Corinne passed on to her eternal reward on November 6 at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all the care and love they extended to her during her residence there, and in particular during her final hours. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14 at St. John Brebeuf Church, 1707 St. John Brebeuf Place, Winnipeg, with longtime friend Fr. Michael Koryluk officiating, followed by a reception in the church basement. Private interment to follow. Prayers will be held immediately prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society (a personal favourite of Corinnes) or any charity that aids the poor or underprivileged. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
