Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD W. "TED" BARFOOT We sadly announce the passing of Edward (Ted) Barfoot, on Friday, November 10, 2000 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 78. Ted is survived by his sister Alice Holland and niece Lorraine (Gordon) Fingland; nephew Trevor (Christine) Holland and great nephews, Brock and Sean (Teresa) Fingland and Jason and Colin Holland. Also left to miss him are many friends, especially Jack, Cathy, Nancy, Jennie, Eileen, Metro and Alex. Ted was born in Winnipeg on July 11, 1922, only son of the deceased Will and Maggie Barfoot and except for 40 wonderful years in Brandon, lived in Winnipeg, his whole life. Ted was born blind, which became only a slight inconvenience as life unfolded. He attended CNIB school in Winnipeg, where boys were children first and blind second and the spirit survived with long lasting friendships, developed from that early age. Ted went on to work for CNIB, catering services at the "Old Bus Garage" on Main Street and then to manage, (bookkeeping and all) the canteen at Brandon Mental Health Centre, until it closed and he retired. Ted was a member of CCB. MB since its inception and served, for many years, as a board member and was president for four years. We shall all remember his tinkling the ivories, whistling the sweetest tunes. Ted took interest and enjoyment in all people, and had a love for travelling and learning. He took pride in the accomplishments of young family members. His thoughtfulness, independence and "joie de vivre" will linger with us and hopefully set a path for example. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Avenue with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating. Interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Should friends so desire, donations in Teds memory may be made to CCB Manitoba Division, Rm. 203 - 283 Bannatyne Ave. Wpg. MB, R3B 3B2.
