MAY McNEILL Surrounded by her family, May passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2000, at the age of 89 years. She was predeceased by her husband Watson in 1968 and her sister Edith in 1995. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Donnamay (John) and her beloved grandson Chris; Johns daughter Nancy (Mark) and their daughter Findlay and Johns son Michael; sister Kay Ledger of California and her children Ed, Rick, Joanne, John and their respective families; sister Laura (Bill) Whyte of Victoria, BC; niece Carole (Gord) Pennell of Winnipeg; the McNeill clan of nephews Ron, John, Don, and niece Susan as well as their respective families. May worked at the civic offices in her younger years, and for 30 years with the Winnipeg School Division as secretary to the Principals of Aberdeen, Earl Grey, and Grant Park High Schools, from which she retired. These were pleasurable years for May and she enjoyed relaying the comical escapades of "life at the school." She enjoyed music and sung in St. Georges choir and played the piano at neighbourhood parties. She loved entertaining her family and friends in her home, playing bridge, and doing needlepoint. She particularly enjoyed her travels to many countries throughout the world. May spent her summers at her cottage at Laclu, Ontario with her family, where she was legendary for saying, "Is anyone coming in for a swim before breakfast?" She was a true observer and lover of nature, and her time at the lake was sheer pleasure for her. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to mothers companion of over four years, Claire Evans, for her kind and compassionate care, and to Dr. N. Caron-Boulet, Ligaya, and the other dedicated nurses and staff of the Alzheimer Ward at Riverview for their thoughtfulness and caring for May over the last three years. If friends so desire, donations in Mays memory may be made to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, designated to the second floor A & B, Alzheimer Ward at One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4, or to a charity of your choice. A private family service will be held on Tuesday, November 14.
