Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE JOSEPH DERRY CARDEY 1921-2000 Peacefully with his family by his side at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home following a long period of failing health, Dad passed away at the age of 79. Dad has been reunited with his beloved wife Nancy who predeceased him on November 19, 1998. He was also predeceased by his parents, four brothers, and one sister in infancy. Dad was born October 17, 1921 in Kenora, Ont., where he was raised and received his education. Leaving to join the RCAF in 1939 he served for five years then relocated to Winnipeg where he met his wife Nancy. They were married on November 6, 1943. Dad will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his six children, Lillian Semiroz (Dave) of Abbotsford, BC, Derry Cardey (Marjorie) of Winnipeg, Linda Robinson (Richard) of Winnipeg, Georgina Kirkpatrick (Bob) of Edmonton, Christine Andrest (Allan) of Winnipeg and Tom Cardey (Beverley) of Winnipeg; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Ed Cardey (Marjorie) of England; sister-in-law Marjorie Cardey of Hamilton, Ont.; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Dad was employed at General Motors Wpg. Division for 37 years retiring in 1984. He and his family spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage in Lake Shore Heights. Dad touched many lives and will be remembered as a kind and caring devoted family man who always put the needs of his family and friends before his own. The family greatly appreciate the care given by the dedicated staff at Meadowood Manor over the past 3 years. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 15, at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., with Fr. Walter Klimchuk officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined, donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimers Society or the Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home.
