Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLEONARD HUGH YEO On November 11, Leonard Yeo of Morden, formerly of Pilot Mound, passed away peacefully at home at the age of 84. Len was born to James and Mary Yeo in the Swan Lake District on April 26, 1916. From the time he left school until the war broke out he worked as a farm labourer and spent a year in Ontario logging. Hockey was a favourite pastime in the winter and his love of the game remained with him throughout his life. In the spring of 1940, he and his brothers volunteered to serve their country in the Army Service Corps. He was proud to be one of five brothers who volunteered their services. He was involved in the invasion and the conflict through to Germany with A section, 3rd Division, Army Service Corps. He was discharged in the fall of 1945 and to re-establish his civilian life, he enrolled in carpentry training at the vocational school. He served his apprenticeship with Jim Foley, a skilled tradesman who taught him well. It was while working with Mr. Foley in Pilot Mound that Len met and married Marjorie Masson. Eventually they made their home in Pilot Mound where their five sons were born. He was immersed in the building industry in the area for many years. He was proud of his many accomplishments including the constructing, supervising and designing of many buildings in the Pilot Mound area. He was a life member of the Legion and Kinsman Clubs of Pilot Mound. Len leaves to mourn his wife of 51 years Marjorie; five sons, Charles and Sylvia, his children Jennifer and Jason; Murray and Debbie, their children, Denise, Christine and Elizabeth; David and Janice, their children, Michael and Brian; Gerald; Fred and Darcy; also three brothers, Doug, Keith and Kenny. Len was predeceased by his sister Beatrice (Toots) Hughson and brothers, Harold and Earl. Following cremation, a graveside service was held Monday, November 13, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Pilot Mound. The family would like to thank the dedicated and caring Legion staff and home care workers who helped to make Lens passing at home possible.
