WILLIAM WARD (BILL) HLADUN
Date of Passing: Nov 16, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM WARD (BILL) HLADUN It is with great sadness we announce the passing of William Ward (Bill) Hladun, age 54, on November 16, 2000, at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Ashern, MB. He will always be loved and remembered by his wife Ruby and daughter Rhonda; step-father Charles Ratz; sister Lyn (Wilf) Carbonneau; niece Candace, nephew Steven; sister Brenda (Casey) Borotsik; nieces Kayla and Shara; uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his son, Billy, on April 4, 1992; Mom, Ethel Ratz, in 1982; and Dad, Bill Hladun, in 1960. Bill was born in Winnipeg, on February 11, 1946. Because his father taught school for the Department of Northern Affairs, Bill spent his childhood in the Pas, Koostatak, and Hilbre, although he also attended school in Fairford, Grahamdale and Moosehorn. In his late teens, he moved to Winnipeg where he worked at various jobs including the construction of the Winnipeg floodway and selling cars at Wileys. He met his soul mate, Ruby, in 1966, and after a three year courtship, they were married in Rubys hometown, Elgin, Manitoba. They were blessed with two children, Rhonda and Billy, at which point they moved to Hilbre. Bill worked for C. Ratz Construction and CFS Gypsumville, farmed, drove the milk truck and school bus. Then in 1983 Bill and Ruby bought their own business where the family worked together. Hunting and fishing were very much a part of his life, but later this was replaced by getting the perfect shot with his camera. Love, music and laughter is the best way to describe Bill. His family was his life. Music was his passion; he loved to sing and play the guitar. From the time he was 16 whether solo or in a band, he loved to entertain. Bill was famous for his jokes and many people sought him out to trade a laugh or just to be uplifted. A Private Requiem Mass will be celebrated at the St. Helens Anglican Church in Fairford. Reposition of the cremains will follow in the Hilbre Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22 at the Grahamdale Community Hall with Rev. Canon Fr. J. Ronald McCullough officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Lee Isaacs and his staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern for the compassionate care they showed Bill and our family. In lieu of flowers, please vote for an improved health care system. Arrangement in care of: Arnason Funeral Homes Ltd. Ashern - Lundar (204) 768-2072
