JACQUELINE ANITA MAZURAT Suddenly, following a brief illness on Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at the Portage District General Hospital, Jacqueline Anita Mazurat of Portage la Prairie, beloved wife of George Mazurat, mother of Joshua, Aaron, Kara, daughter of William and the late Loraine Ward, passed away at the age of 40 years. Prayers will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Sunday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Johns Roman Catholic Church on Monday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Father Wayne Morrissey officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery. Jackie was born on March 8, 1960, at Portage la Prairie, Man., where she was raised and received her education. In 1977 she married George Mazurat and they continued to reside in Portage where they raised their three children. Jackie was an adherent of the Roman Catholic faith. Her family was very important to her and she tried to spend as much time as possible with her children. As a family, they enjoyed camping and fishing at their recently purchased cabin at Thomas Lake. She was a very dedicated worker for the Portage Friendship Centre, Seventh Fire, Headstart, the Manitoba Metis Federation Womens Group, Manitoba Metis Federation Portage Local and the Manitoba Metis Federation Southwest Region Local Management Board. She supervised and oversaw the bingos for both the Manitoba Metis Federation and the Portage Friendship Centre. As a pastime she enjoyed playing bingo, cards and crib with her children. Predeceased by her mother Loraine in 1996, she leaves to mourn her passing her husband George; her children, Joshua, Aaron, Kara all at home; her father William Ward. Also surviving are her brother Gerald and Sandra of Portage la Prairie; Jason and Charlene of Winnipeg, Lorrie and Bob Payne of Portage la Prairie, Rita and David Murphy of Winnipeg, mother-in-law Angele; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. She will be sadly missed by her many friends at the Portage Friendship Centre and the Manitoba Metis Federation. Should friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Portage Friendship Centre, 20 3rd Street NE, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 1N4. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.
