PREBEN (TED) PAULSEN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Preben (Ted) Paulsen. He joined the Lord November 16, 2000. Born August 20, 1924 in Copenhagen, Denmark he leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Vibeke (Vibs) and their three children. Daughter Birgit married to Garry Kaban of Winnipeg, Man., sons, John married to Kathleen living in Calgary, Alta., and Dan married to Gloria living in Saskatoon. Four grandchildren, Michael (Cara), Steven (Kris), Jennifer and Mark. His father, mother and younger sister predeceased him. Ted grew up loving life and the outdoors. He spent his youth involved in the scouting movement in Denmark and always spoke fondly of their adventures. His early twenties were spent with war and the resistance movement fighting the occupation of his homeland. Ted was a trained goldsmith who apprenticed under his father and it was at the jewellery shop he met a customer, a tall nurse that would be with him for the rest of his life. To seek better opportunity for his family in 1951 Ted took his small family to Canada to tackle a new beginning. Settling first in Winnipeg he worked as a tinsmith, then over to Regina as a sales representative and adding one more member to his small family. Back to Winnipeg as a bookkeeper and salesman. It was during these years at a lake camp called Luther Village, Ted was tagged with the nickname "Chief". Ted spent much of his Canadian Life involved in the Lutheran Church and it was through this service he came to Saskatoon to be the business manager of the Lutheran Seminary. Leaving this post he completed his hard working career as the provincial sales manager for Border Chemicals and retired at the age of 65. Ted and Vibs loved to travel and they spent all of the retired years pulling a trailer to all parts of the country. Chief: We love you and will always miss you. Go in peace. A celebration of his life will be held Monday, November 20, 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 323 4th Avenue S. Donations can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
