INEZ J. McELROY (nee OVEREND) The family of Inez McElroy wish to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on November 16, 2000 at the age of 96 years. Inez leaves to mourn her passing and to cherish her memory her daughter Diane and her husband Ted; her grandchildren, Carrie (Andy) and Jennifer (Rob) her great-grandchildren, Delaney, Robbie and Raylene; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted in 1988; and her sisters, Mabel, Hazel and Olive. Inez was born on August 19, 1904 in Ninette, MB and received her education in Ninette, Belmont and Brandon. She spent thirty-two years in the teaching profession including Carman, Emerson, Roblin and finally with the Winnipeg School Division. She was the recipient of the 1967 Centennial Medal. Inez was united in marriage with Ted McElroy in 1940. She was a long time member of the Westwood Presbyterian Church as well as the Womens Canadian Club. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 20 at 3:00 p.m. from Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens with a reception to follow. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Karen Moran DeMuller and to the staff of the Grace General Hospital on 5 North for the special care given to our mother. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Inez memory to the Grace General Hospital, 300 Booth Street, Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 "Time has now come to say good-bye, And yet we still must ask why. Shed no tears for me I say, As now Im finally on my way. Theres peace and happiness in my heart, Even though its sad to part. For God has finally called my name, So shed no tears, Im going home."
