Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELWOOD DWIGHT GIBSON September 15, 1917 - November 16, 2000 On Thursday, November 16, 2000 at the Health Sciences Centre, Elwood Dwight Gibson passed away at the age of 83 years. Elwood is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years Doreen; his son Dwight; his daughter Susan Milne and husband Bruce; his grandchildren Kyla, Jill, Jeff, Laura and David; his sister Margaret Peto and husband Lorne; his brother Garnet and wife Lillian; and numerous nephews and nieces. Elwood had a kind and gentle soul. He loved all of his family deeply; his wife, his children and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and many in-laws. He had a very special rapport with his grandchildren and was intensely proud of them and their accomplishments. He loved to tease and be teased. In his younger years, he excelled at golf, curling and coaching baseball and hockey. In his later years, he continued to enjoy golf and spent many hours playing bridge and billiards. He loved to have coffee with the boys and was always amused by a good political argument. He was at ease talking to anyone, anywhere, anytime. He enjoyed travelling for as long as he was able. He will be missed and always remembered by us all. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside Ave. (off Killarney Avenue), Winnipeg, on Monday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elwoods name to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2H8 and/or the Kidney Foundation of Canada - Manitoba Branch, 200-55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3C 1L8.
