Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMICHAEL DAVID TOMLINSON 1921 - 2000 Following a short illness, Michael Tomlinson passed away peacefully on November 16, 2000 at the Grace General Hospital. Mike was predeceased by his parents Anne Tomlinson and Prokop Beyak. He leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his loving wife of 50 years, Gladys; daughter Barb (Rick) and children Dale and Lesley; son John (Verlie) and children John and Barbara; daughter Teresa; daughter Cathy (Jacques) and children Tom, Jacie, Jesse, Crystal and Jonathan; son Darrell and children Ryan, Keri, and Dana; daughter Violet (Martin) and children Harrison and Sara; his sister Violet of Burnaby, B.C. and her sons Robert, Doug and Howard. He was born in Winnipegosis, MB on October 18, 1921 and spent his first years in Sifton on his grandmothers farm before moving to Headingley in 1931. Mike began working for Eatons at the age of 17. He joined the Armed Forces in 1944 and following the war he returned to Eatons where he worked for the remainder of his life (a total of 62 years). His dedication to his clients, was one of the reasons he insisted on not retiring on a full time basis. Dads last day at work was his 79th birthday. Mike will be remembered for his love of curling, baseball, and horseshoes to name a few of the sports he enjoyed. In his later years he continued to remain active, caring for his flowers, his trees and his garden. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with family and friends and sharing in the simpler things in life. Special thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff on 3 West at the Grace Hospital, and to our neighbours and friends for their many helpful deeds. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2000 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Public viewing between 12:00 and 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in Michaels memory may be made to The Memorial Gardens of Headingley United Church, 110 Bridge Road, Headingley MB, R4H 1G3 or to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald Street, R3B 2H8 Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
