Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH GALANT March 17, 1914 - November 17, 2000 Peacefully with family at his side, Joseph Galant passed away on November 17, 2000 at the Selkirk and District General Hospital at the age of 86. Dad and Mom lived in Lockport all their lives until moving to Selkirk in 1978. Dad farmed and was also employed at the Manitoba Rolling Mills. He was a recent resident of Red River Place in Selkirk. Dad loved to work with his hands, loved nature and it showed in the meticulous way he kept his yard. Dad was very proud of his children and grandchildren. Dad leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years, Julia (recently celebrating their anniversary on November 15) his two daughters, Deanna Schoenfeld and Linda McAuley both of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Angela (Chris), Kelly (Joe), Randy, Rhonda (Ed), Wendy (Greg) five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Allan, Travis, Kayla and Breanna and also two sisters, Ann Mernett and Sophie Bochen. He was predeceased by his son Garry in 1993; brothers, Peter and Paul; sisters, Mary and Tillie and a grandson Robert in 1976. Prayers will be said on Monday (tonight) at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Rossdale. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 10-120 Donald St., Wpg R3C 4G2 or the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Wpg R3B 2H8.
